How Doctors Will Treat Your Tinnitus
Normally one or a combination of these four treatments.
1. Hearing aids
2. Tinnitus maskers
3. Tinnitus counseling
1.Hearing aids can help to soften the sound of your tinnitus and make it a lot more quiet this happens because the hearing aid makes external sounds louder, So you will hear music and other people louder, They can be very effective at helping your deal with your tinnitus.Only problem with hearing aids is they can be very costly, You are looking at $ 50 for a disposable one and up to $ 5000 for a top of the range model with the latest technology, Disposable ones last for a certain amount of time before you need to throw them away normally about 250-300 hours.
2.Tinnitus maskers are small electronic devices which are also designed to make your tinnitus less noticeable, Tinnitus maskers in my opinion are better than hearing aids, since they are a lot more effective at making your tinnitus less noticeable. Tinnitus maskers normally generate white noise or another static sound which at first is very annoying but after some time the user will become used to the noise.Once again this just makes it so you can cope with tinnitus but will not cure it.
3.Tinnitus counseling is a very common treatment for tinnitus and is one of my favourites, It can be done in groups of people or just one person at a time. I find it was better to do it in a group as everyone could share they experience and advice.Talking to others and learning to cope with tinnitus will help you a lot, Since a lot of people who have tinnitus suffer from depression joining these groups help you deal with it and allow you to be happier.
4.The last treatment for tinnitus that doctors will use is drugs and medicine, These may include sleeping pills, Anti depressants and supplements such as zinc, Magnesium and Vitamin B12.All of which will help you cope with your tinnitus a lot better.
It is not abnormal for doctors to combine these treatments a lot of the time they will use drugs and medicine along with tinnitus maskers or counseling.
